KUALA LUMPUR: The police investigation into Roger Ng Chong Hwa, a former banker and key figure in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) financial scandal, is still underway.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said there are still a few information required by the police for the case.
"The investigation is still ongoing, (and) he (Ng) is still under police observation.
"There is still information we need, particularly regarding the documentary evidence, (and) there are many things to be reviewed.
"It is not just one or two documents, but a substantial amount of evidence (to examine)," he said when met by reporters after the launch of the police book titled 'Royal Malaysia Police: History of Establishment, Sacrifices and Successes in Preserving National Peace," he said today.
Razarudin said this when asked about whether the investigation into Ng is still ongoing.
Yesterday, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's defence team said an application with the High Court to interview Ng will be filed.
Najib's lead counsel, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, said the application would be filed before Court of Appeal judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah, who is presiding over Najib's corruption trial for misappropriating billions of 1MDB funds.
Ng, who is facing a 10-year prison term in the United States in connection to the 1MDB case, was returned to Malaysia on Oct 8, last year, to face related charges.
Ng is being held at a secure location for safety reasons.
