KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, today graced the launch of a book titled "Royal Malaysia Police: History of Establishment, Sacrifices, and Successes in Preserving National Peace."
The book, authored by Professor Dr Mohamad Thariq Hameed Sultan and Shafie Abdul Rahman, highlights the history and achievements of the Royal Malaysia Police.
Published as a pictorial compilation with accompanying descriptions, it provides valuable insights into the police force's journey as dedicated peacekeepers who prioritise the nation's interests.
It also honours the sacrifices and heroic efforts of officers in defending the country.
At the event, Sultan Nazrin presented the Special National Book Awards to seven recipients.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that the book served as an important reference, spreading awareness and inspiring patriotism.
He said that the police force's resilience over more than two centuries was rooted in their unwavering loyalty to the King and the country.
"This spirit of loyalty is the cornerstone of the police force's enduring strength, making them the oldest and most prominent enforcement agency, always ready to defend against emerging security threats.
"The history of the police force offers valuable lessons on loyalty, discipline, bravery, and the importance of synergy in overcoming challenges. Through this history, we better understand our responsibilities in building a harmonious and resilient society," he added.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Thariq said that the main challenge in producing the book was ensuring the accuracy of facts, although the police force provided essential support.
The book, which took a year to complete, will be distributed in 30,000 to 40,000 copies to schools and universities as a key educational resource.
"This book is free and aims to serve as an essential read for the public," he said.
