Kedah Pas lauds court decision to clear Sanusi from sedition charge against Sultan of Selangor

ALOR STAR: Kedah Pas today lauded the Shah Alam High Court's decision to acquit and discharge Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor from a sedition charge against the Sultan of Selangor last year.

Kedah Pas Commissioner Datuk Ahmad Yahaya in a statement, also extended gratitude to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj for accepting Sanusi's apology earlier.

"Kedah Pas wish to express our gratitude and heartfelt appreciation for the decision delivered by the High Court this morning to accept the representation submitted by Menteri Besar, thereby acquitting and discharging him from the charge.

"At the same time, Kedah Pas once again extends our utmost respect and gratitude to His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, the Sultan of Selangor, for graciously accepting the prior apology from Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor. Daulat Tuanku.

Earlier today, the Shah Alam High Court acquitted and discharged Sanusi of one sedition charge for allegedly uttering seditious remarks against the Sultan of Selangor last year.

It was reported that High Court judge Datuk Aslam Zainuddin made the ruling after deputy public prosecutor Datuk Masri Mohd Daud said the prosecution wanted to withdraw and discontinue the charge.

However, the second charge against Sanusi for allegedly uttering seditious remarks, linked to former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, maintained.
