'Why appeal? I don't even know what I did to be suspended' - Hishammuddin

KUALA LUMPUR: Sembrong member of Parliament Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has reiterated his stance that he will not appeal the six-year suspension of his Umno membership.

The former Umno vice-president said this was because he still did not know the reason behind the party leadership's decision to suspend him.

"Why would I appeal? Until now I still do not know why I was suspended," he said briefly when met at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Hishammuddin was asked to comment on Umno's decision to lift the suspension of former Pasir Salak MP, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman.

On Jan 27 last year, the party decided to suspend Hishammudin for six years. Apart from Hishammuddin, Umno also suspended former information chief Shahril Hamdan, and Tajuddin.

Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin was sacked from the party.

On Dec 1, Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said there was no reason for the party's Supreme Council to reject the appeals of suspended members who showed the same level of commitment as Tajuddin in seeking to lift their suspensions.

He had said Tajuddin had submitted four appeals to the party to get his suspension lifted.
