RANAU: Twenty-four tourists faced a terrifying ordeal when the bus they were travelling in skidded off the road at kilometre 12 of Jalan Ranau-Telupid here.
In the incident, which occurred at about 1.45pm, 13 passengers were injured and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
Deputy district police chief Deputy Superintendent Ediansha Endal said they received an emergency call at 1.55pm.
He said that the crash involved a tourist bus that skidded near the Luanti Tea Plantation junction.
"The Fire and Rescue team was present at the scene, deploying a fire engine and the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).
"The incident involved a tourist bus carrying 24 passengers, with only minor injuries reported," he said when contacted today.
Ediansha added that four victims were taken to Ranau Hospital via EMRS for further treatment. Meanwhile, three victims were brought to the Lohan Health Clinic, while six others were transported to Ranau Hospital using an ambulance.
"No fatalities were reported, and traffic police were dispatched to the scene to manage traffic flow," he said.
