JELEBU: Rice, cooking oil, and eggs were the main draw for the crowd at today's Rahmah Sale, organised by the Klawang state legislative assembly at the Kampung Batu Serambai Community Hall.
Normah Hadi, 42, from Pertang, said she came to buy essential goods at discounted prices, including rice which was sold at RM14 for a 5-kilogramme pack.
She mentioned that finding rice at such a price in the market is not easy, unlike during the Rahmah Sale.
"I am one of the regular customers of this sale, in addition to the Agro Madani Sale and Nismilan Prihatin, which also offers cheap goods."
"The government is implementing these sales not only in towns or cities but also in rural areas, making it more convenient for the public," she said.
Ramli Alias, 52, from Kuala Klawang said such sales should be held more frequently, especially in villages.
"Most people come to buy food items, which sell out faster than other goods," he said.
Meanwhile, the Klawang assemblyman Datuk Bakri Sawir said 1,000 5kg packs of rice were sold at RM14 each to the public.
In addition, 1,700 packets of cooking oil and 500 cartons of eggs were sold at RM8.
"Chicken meat is being sold at RM6.50 per kg, compared to the original price of RM9.50, while other items like flour are priced at RM2.50, down from RM3.75."
"We will continue to help the people get essential items, not only through the Rahmah Sale but also through the Agro Madani Sale and Nismilan Prihatin," he said.
