KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has released the Public Consultation Report on the draft Code of Conduct (Best Practice) for internet messaging service providers and social media service providers.
This follows the completion of a public consultation period, which concluded on Nov 5, during which feedback was gathered from a wide range of stakeholders, including service providers, industry players, and the general public.
"The public consultation aimed to gather valuable insights to further refine and enhance the draft Code of Conduct (Best Practice) before its final publication as an industry standard by January 1.
"The Code seeks to foster a safer online environment for all Malaysians, with a particular focus on protecting children and vulnerable groups," MCMC said in a statement.
The Commission expressed its appreciation for the valuable contributions of the respondents, highlighting that their feedback had been instrumental in ensuring the draft Code was clear, adaptable, and practical.
It said that these inputs were crucial to creating a more secure digital space for all Malaysians.
While the final version of the Code of Conduct (Best Practice) will be published next year, the Public Consultation Report is now available on MCMC's website, providing a comprehensive overview of the feedback received.
MCMC assured the public that all contributions had been carefully considered in refining the draft document.
