Two men rescued from Indonesian waters expected to arrive in Malaysia tomorrow

GEORGE TOWN: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency is en route from Indonesia to bring home two men found safe in the country's waters.

Muhammad Ikmal Hakimi Ismail, 22, and his friend, Nor Hasrul Abdullah, 25, were reported missing after their boat drifted off Kuala Sungai Pinang, Balik Pulau, around 11.30pm on Tuesday.

Penang Maritime director Maritime Captain Razali Kasim said upon receiving the latest information, the KM Burau vessel was immediately dispatched to the coordinates at the maritime border to retrieve the victims.

"Both victims were found in a safe and stable condition and are currently en route from Indonesia to Malaysia today.

"The journey, spanning nearly 60 nautical miles, will take some time to complete, factoring in sea weather conditions," he said in a press statement today.

Razali added that the victims were able to communicate with enforcement officers, assuring them that they were in good health and safe.

"They are expected to arrive in Malaysian waters early tomorrow morning aboard the MMEA vessel," he said.

Earlier today, the media reported the discovery of the two men following information received from the police at about 10am.
