Veteran TV3 journalist Elphege Godomon dies at 53

KOTA KINABALU: Former TV3 journalist Elphege Godomon has passed away at the age of 53.

His brother Ben confirmed that Elphege, a senior correspondent and regional coordinator for Sabah and Sarawak, had a distinguished career spanning over 20 years with the popular network.

Elphege, who lost his wife in 2016, leaves behind two children, aged 17 and 19.

"He arrived at our family home in Kampung Kionsom Lama, Kiulu, yesterday.

"My last conversation with him was at 10.43pm, where he seemed fine, even commenting on the slow internet connection," Ben said.

"But this morning, he was found unresponsive by our mother."

Elphege joined TV3 in 1994, covering significant events such as Storm Greg in 1996, numerous elections, the Sipadan and Pandanan kidnappings, the Sulu intrusion, and natural disasters like El Niño and La Niña.

He also reported extensively on Sabah football, capturing both the game's triumphs and its scandals.

In addition to his TV3 work, Elphege was the chief editor for Nabalu News, an online news portal dedicated to stories from Sabah.
