Fadillah reflects on global events and national progress in New Year's message

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite facing challenges, the dedication, unwavering commitment, and strategic efforts of the Madani government have successfully driven the nation's economy this year, benefiting the people, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

In his New Year's message shared on Facebook, Fadillah acknowledged that the government's path, led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has been challenging.

"I acknowledge that our journey in leading the government has not been an easy one and this journey is still long. We will continue to strive to provide the best service to all the people of Malaysia."

In his message, Fadillah also expressed gratitude to the people for their 'segulai sejalai' cooperation.

"All sectors of society, from the public and private sectors to farmers and fishermen, worked together in unity. This collective effort has enabled Malaysia to overcome challenges and continue progressing."

Fadillah, who is also the Energy and Water Transformation Minister, said on the international stage, Malaysia witnessed many important events throughout this year that deserve attention.

"India's general election, the re-election of (US) President Donald Trump, Malaysia's entry into the BRICS economic bloc, the fall of the Bashar Al-Assad regime, and the fall of the French government, as well as in Asean, Indonesia's general election and the official appointment of Indonesia's president-elect Prabowo Subianto followed by the appointment of the new Thailand Prime Minister (Paetongtarn Shinawatra).

"These events reflect significant changes and developments in global politics, teaching us to view the world through a diverse lens and reminding us to quickly adapt to the rapidly changing times," he said.

For the coming year, Fadillah said there are still many responsibilities ahead for Malaysia, including the role as the host for the Asean Chairmanship in 2025.

"However, this is the purpose for which we are entrusted as stewards of this earth – to continue serving and contributing. Insya-Allah, we will step into 2025 with an even stronger spirit and unity, achieving more milestones for our beloved Malaysia. Happy New Year 2025."
