NIBONG TEBAL: A 6-year-old girl is believed to have been killed after getting trapped in the legs of a foldable table at a house in Taman Seri Putra yesterday.
It is understood that the 4.15pm incident happened while the girl was playing by herself behind the house.
Her mother and siblings, aged 9 and 10, were inside the house at the time.
They only realised something was amiss when they did not hear the girl making any noise and went to check on her.
They found her unconscious and immediately took her to hospital.
The girl was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Hospital Parit Buntar. The hospital contacted the police who rushed to the house to investigate.
When contacted, Penang police chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad confirmed the incident and said the case was being probed under Section 31(1) of the Child Act for neglect and exposing a child to injury.
