KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry has received a report regarding two former boarding school students who were subjected to a severe form of bullying.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the case was still under investigation.
"Firstly, I would like to reiterate that we do not compromise on bullying.
"Therefore, all actions taken must follow the procedures we have established.
"We urge that complaints be made through the Adu Buli portal of the Ministry of Education (MOE)," she said at the SPM Operations press conference today.
She also reminded school administrators against concealing bullying incidents.
On quarters questioning parents' actions in reporting cases directly to the ministry, Fadhlina affirmed their rights to bring unresolved cases to light.
"Why is it being questioned? Parents have the right to escalate the case to a higher level.
"If there are parties who are dissatisfied, they can take the matter to the relevant authorities.
"If parents feel their children have not received justice in the context of the investigation and the complaints made, they have every right to escalate the matter to a higher level, including to the authorities and the Ministry of Education itself," she added.
It was reported that the two former students were forced to execute a rigorous plank with arm support move, commonly dubbed as the "commando rests."
They claimed that there were gangs operating within the school, with groups like 6 Jahanam, 6 Azazil, and 7 Malaikat Maut, which fostered bullying, theft, smoking, and violence among students.
