KUANTAN: A taxi was destroyed in a fire believed to be due to faulty wiring at Km202 of the East Coast Expressway 1 near here yesterday.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria said no injuries or casualties were reported in the 7.25pm incident.
"The Taman Tas fire station was alerted to the incident about 7.26pm. Seven firemen were deployed to the scene. They arrived at 7.51pm and brought the fire under control within 30 minutes.
"The fire completely destroyed the Proton Persona and no victims were involved. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause," he said today.
It is learnt that initial investigations revealed that faulty wiring might have triggered the fire.
Meanwhile, Kuantan police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the car owner has yet to lodge a report on the fire incident.
