KUALA LUMPUR: Police have received a report on a cat that died after it was attacked by several dogs in Universiti Malaya.
Brickfields police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the complainant, a student, and her friend witnessed the incident at 1.30am.
"About 1.30am, the complainant and a friend witnessed several dogs attacking a cat at a parking area.
"After the complainant and her friend chased the dogs away, they approached the cat and found that it had died.
"The complainant buried the cat and lodged a police report to refer the incident to Universiti Malaya and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall."
He said police did not initiate an investigation as the cat's death was caused by stray dogs.
Several cat carcasses have been found in Universiti Malaya in the past few weeks.
Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Azry Akmar Ayob said post-mortem examinations on four cats found no evidence of foul play.
He said the carcasses discovered on Dec 17, 20 and 25 were examined by the Veterinary Services Department.
