KUALA LUMPUR: A couple's dream of creating a world record for the first electric vehicle world tour faced a hurdle after their car crashed in the capital of Malaysia.
The couple had just bought their BYD electric vehicle and planned to cross countries comprising Thailand, Laos, China, Europe, Africa, and many others, local media reported.
In a 17-second video posted on TikTok by @asrijanggut78 which garnered over 61,700 views, a blue Perodua Bezza was seen heavily damaged on the rear side.
It is believed that the EV crashed into the rear end of the Perodua.
"EV car on a mission to travel the globe starting from China, (had an) accident in Kuala Lumpur...," the caption said.
Netizens in the comments poked fun at the incident saying that Malaysian traffics are a "different breed" for foreign drivers.
"(They) haven't seen flying Myvi. That is just an introduction from Bezza," user @nazer_rosli said.
User @itsardenkit said: "Malaysia is one of the most dangerous countries to drive."
Meanwhile, another commenter claimed that it was the EV couple who crashed into the cars involved comprising the Bezza, a Proton Saga and a Mazda.
"Traffic stopped but the (BYD) driver crashed into (them) all. (Either) Not focused or malfunction issue. How to do a world tour if can't even pass Malaysia," user @papa_k.a said.
