KUALA LUMPUR: A former educator finds herself in a distressing predicament, wandering the premises of Residensi Neo Damansara, searching for food and a place to sleep after losing her teaching job.
The story was shared by Hafiz Hamidun on Facebook, shedding light on the plight of Pui Ching, a Chinese lady who, several months after her job termination, has found herself facing economic hardships.
With outstanding utility arrears, Pui Ching's access to electricity and water was disconnected, forcing her to seek food and drinks from her neighbours.
This situation left the residents in a state of unease and concern for her well-being.
The concerned neighbours contacted the Neo Damansara Joint Management Body (JMB), which initiated an internal investigation to understand the root causes of Pui's dire situation and find a viable solution.
Upon their initial inspection, it was revealed that Pui had locked herself inside her residence.
The homeowner, currently residing in the United States, faced logistical challenges in taking immediate action.
Subsequently, in July, the JMB, with the assistance of concerned neighbours, took appropriate steps by filing complaints with the police, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, and the Social Welfare Department.
Despite the efforts of these authorities, Pui remained unwilling to vacate her unit, and JMB learned that the act of eviction could only be carried out by the unit's owner.
Seeking a resolution, a complaint was lodged with Bukit Lanjan state assemblyman Pua Pei Ling.
Unfortunately, as of the latest update, Pua has been unable to provide a comprehensive solution to this ongoing crisis.
Efforts to contact Pui's relatives in Petaling Jaya proved fruitless, as they refused to take responsibility for her situation.
Pui has also been reluctant to heed the Welfare Department's recommendation to seek medical attention at the nearest hospital.
Her deteriorating health and unpredictable weather conditions, including haze and heavy rain, have caused deep concern among the residents and the JMB.
In response, the JMB has taken to social media to raise awareness about Pui's plight and to prompt swift action from the appropriate authorities.
