PETALING JAYA: Dashcam footage of a Toyota pickup truck ignoring traffic rules and jumping a divider is making its rounds on social media.
The 28-second clip, which was uploaded on Facebook, shows a vehicle travelling along the road, believed to be Jalan Penchala, and approaching the traffic light in front of the Petaling Jaya police headquarters.
The pick-up truck tries to make an illegal turn at the traffic light junction and can be seen jumping the kerb as other vehicles blare their horns.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulnizam Ja'afar said they were alerted to the viral video at 9am today.
"Initial investigations revealed that the pick-up truck ignored traffic regulations and made an illegal turn.
"We urge the owner of the vehicle that recorded the footage to come to the Petaling Jaya Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department, or contact Inspector Mohamad Khairil Helmi Mohamad Isa at 019-3318339," he said, adding that the incident will be investigated under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He also urged motorists to always abide by traffic rules.
"We will not compromise with anyone who intentionally drives dangerously, and will take stern action in accordance with the law," he said.
