KUALA LUMPUR: An anesthesiologist at a local hospital expressed frustration after a 24-hour shift in April resulted in the rejection of a modest RM200 claim.
On a viral anonymous Facebook posting, the doctor had expressed frustrations as the claims were rejected due to a technical failure on the hospital's facial recognition attendance system.
"I am a dedicated doctor in the Anaesthesia Department at a government hospital. In April, I completed a strenuous 24-hour call, dedicating my work to save lives.
"Unfortunately, due to a technical failure in the face-scan system, my attendance that morning was not recorded. As a result, my call claim of RM200 was rejected," the doctor said.
According to the doctor, multiple appeals had been made to the hospital's accountant and relevant administrative officers, but the claim was still being denied.
"This is incredibly demotivating and feels deeply unfair. It is disheartening that my hard work and commitment are not being acknowledged," the doctor said.
The doctor had urged for the Health Ministry and the hospital to address the issue urgently adding that doctors should not have to fight for recognition and compensation for their efforts.
