KUALA LUMPUR: A wedding ceremony that blended Malay traditions with a Chinese couple's celebration has gone viral online, earning praise for its vibrant and unique cultural fusion.
shared by @hushushushusna, a kompang band, commonly seen at Malay weddings, entered the venue, playing lively music as the couple's family, dressed in elegant kebayas, followed behind.
The event also featured a lively lion dance, with performers in bright pink costumes that matched the bride and groom, who wore pink traditional Malay attire – the bride in kebaya and the groom in baju melayu.
The caption said that the poster and her husband were invited to a Chinese wedding with a 'Malay' theme.
However, it was revealed that the wedding was actually themed around Baba Nyonya culture.
The video has since amassed over 897,800 views and 108,800 likes, as netizens express their awe for this colourful celebration that beautifully showcases the rich cultural tapestry of Malaysia.
User @zamrah73 said that the Baba Nyonya couple looks "so sweet", whilst @sir_ahong added that "now this is the wedding of the year" as it doesn't only focus on luxury.
