SINGAPORE: A Singaporean woman was appalled by a Penang char kway teow stall after her request for no eggs in her dish was denied.
The woman requested no eggs due to an allergy while dining at the Malaysia Boleh! food market at Bugis Junction.
However, she was told that the request was not possible due to it being "company policy".
"So, even if the person consumes and dies from eating the egg, is Malaysia Boleh! going to compensate for the life? Is that the company policy?", asked the user on a posting on Complaint Singapore.
The latter is one of several Facebook pages with the same name dedicated to public complaints among residents of the island republic.
The woman stated that, as a human resource professional, she was concerned by the corporate values of the organisation.
While she asked for no eggs to be added, the staff not only did so but asked her if she wanted more eggs free of charge.
However, reactions to her pleas were less than positive as users showed no empathy.
"Self-proclaim HR but acts like a child. Staff are following rules that their company enforced.
"Who are you to override their management? You paying for char kway teow, not their salary nor bonus. Nobody owes you a living," said user Seth Wong.
"So troublesome, who dares to cook for you? HR knows nothing about operations, go back to your seat and just keep quiet," said user Alvin Huang.
Others argued that the authenticity of the dish was more important than the woman's health concerns.
"They have a branding to upkeep and a plate of char kway teow without eggs is not right (traditionally)", said user Johnny Chiang.
So far as of today (July 30), 72 users reacted with a laughing emoji to the post.
Opened in 2022, Malaysia Boleh! at Bugis Junction is the fourth location of the popular food court, serving famous cuisine from Sei Ngan Chai roast duck to Ipoh white coffee.
