KUALA LUMPUR: A durian trader was caught dumping durian peels into a river in Semenyih, Selangor, sparking outrage among netizens.
The incident, which was captured on video and uploaded by TikTok user @ajoybasmini007, has garnered over 70,000 views.
The footage, recorded in Kampung Sungai Buloh on Aug 9 at 11.35pm, shows the trader disposing of the peels under the cover of night.
In the video, the man recording can be heard expressing his frustration, saying, "We caught him in the act. This is the durian skin he's throwing here. We gave him three days to clean up, but he did nothing."
The video also shows a different scene recorded on Aug 11, where no cleanup efforts were evident.
The man warns that he will soon release further footage, including the truck's licence plate and the trader's face.
The New Straits Times has reached out to local authorities for confirmation and is awaiting a response.
Meanwhile, the video has prompted calls from netizens for strict action against the durian trader.
User @harunRamzi commented, "Can't trust people like this. He should be made to clean it up on the spot."
User @harrisahmad added, "No wonder the other day when I went fishing along the Sungai Buloh route, it was full of durian peels."
