#NSTviral: Disabled street artist's determination to earn a living wins netizens' hearts

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite physical limitations, a disabled man has remained determined to earn money for his survival.

In a social experiment video shared on TikTok by social media influencer Bosmel, a heartwarming moment was captured of meeting the disabled man selling art portraits at the walkway of shops near Wangsa Maju.

In the video, the influencer approached the man to enquire about his work and requested him to draw a portrait.

While drawing the portrait, the man shared with Bosmel that he commutes to work in his wheelchair for 20 minutes daily.

Originally from Seremban, he revealed that his disability resulted from an accident a few years back.

"I was in an accident previously and had a high fever which led to this condition," he said.

Recognising his talent for drawing at the age of 18, he uses his skills to earn an income for his survival.

"Drawing requires peace of mind... if there's no mood, you can't draw. However, you cannot wait to have the mood in any job."

After completing the portrait, the man accepted a RM10 payment from the influencer without asking for more, despite his usual charge of RM30 to RM40.

Following this, Bosmel later slipped additional cash to him due to his sincere acceptance, despite the man's repeated refusals.

The video has garnered various reactions from the public, who sympathised with the disabled man's plight.

"A motivation for me. May God place this uncle in heaven. Despite his shortcomings, he remains positive and continues to work."

"Thank you, kind person. May you stay healthy and continue to be blessed with abundant sustenance. May all your affairs be eased, and may you always be under God's protection."

The video has since gained 23.8k likes and 206.8k views on TikTok.
