#NSTviral: Honest mechanic wins hearts of netizens

KUALA LUMPUR: People have been sharing their positive experiences with an honest mechanic, and the feedback on social media has been overwhelmingly positive.

On the X platform, user @amalmnop shared the experience of a customer who faced an absorber issue and needed an immediate repair for his car.

The customer had previously visited up to three workshops, all of which recommended replacing the entire rear set, which would have cost a significant amount.

Fortunately, upon visiting an honest mechanic known as Abang Wadie, the problem was resolved by simply replacing the bush, which was more affordable.

The first caption read: "It's bittersweet because his sales might be lower, but he (Abang Wadie) said, 'It's okay, sustenance comes from Allah.'"

According to the original post, Abang Wadie's honest approach not only saved the customer RM700 but also allowed him to allocate the savings towards new tires, which he needed more urgently.

Similarly, another customer with an air conditioning issue was also spared the cost of a major repair.

Instead of replacing the entire cooling coil, which would have required dismantling the dashboard, the mechanic identified and fixed a simple condenser pipe leak.

"They are probably willing to forgo bigger sales for more blessed sustenance. By building trust with people, they might gain long-term customers," the person wrote.

As word spreads about their integrity, these mechanics are becoming a beacon of trust in the automotive repair industry, showing that sometimes, the best business strategy is simply doing the right thing.

Netizens on social media approved of the mechanic's honesty, praising their work ethic and customer service.

User @fikrimosleh said: "Believe me, he will get regular customers who previously wouldn't even visit his shop."

Another user, @AinIon126, said: "Trust me, a mechanic like this is a real find. Once you go to him, you'll always go back. If he changes jobs, you'll track him down and keep using his services. I found one, and I've been sticking with him ever since. Even if he moves to a new shop, I'll follow him there if it's nearby."

Meanwhile, some people even bring their male friends to the mechanics to avoid being scammed by dishonest ones.

User @p4ndass_ shared: "It's hard to find honest people these days, especially for us women who fear being scammed. We go through the effort of finding a reliable workshop and even bring male friends along just to avoid getting ripped off again."
