KUALA LUMPUR: A teenager's remarkable initiative to save for a new phone by assisting in his mother's business has captured the attention of social media users, who commend the young boy's work ethic instilled in him from an early age.
In a TikTok video shared by @kliki.my, a mother and her 15-year-old son are seen in a phone store.
The teenager reveals his budget of RM400, as the seller recommends a suitable phone. When asked if the phone is for his mother, the boy proudly states it is for himself.
The seller then inquires if the mother is treating her son to the new phone, to which she replies that the money comes from her son's own savings.
He has worked diligently in her business for over a month to accumulate enough funds after his old phone broke.
The mother emphasises her desire to teach her son the importance of saving money to purchase things for himself, a valuable lesson she believes will benefit him throughout his life.
The video has attracted 224,200 views and 10,500 likes, with netizens flocking to praise the boy for his commendable saving habits.
