KUALA LUMPUR: A woman's quick thinking and the heroic efforts of firefighters have warmed the hearts of thousands of social media users after the rescue of her pet cat, Adik, whose head was accidentally stuck in a tin can, went viral on social media.
The incident occurred on Friday evening when the woman, identified as Ella, found her cat in distress at around 6.10pm.
Acting swiftly, she placed Adik in a cage and rushed to the nearest fire and rescue station, arriving within five minutes.
Upon arriving at the station, Ella explained the situation to the firefighters on duty, who immediately sprang into action.
One firefighter initially attempted to free the cat's head from the tin can without removing it from the cage, but the frightened feline's sharp claws made the task more challenging.
In the clip, another firefighter could be heard advising his colleague to handle the cat gently as they worked to remove the tin.
After several careful attempts, the team successfully freed Adik, much to Ella's relief.
Ella later expressed her gratitude in a TikTok post, captioning the video:
"Fortunately, he was freed. Thank you, abang bomba."
The video has since gone viral, garnering 77,000 likes and over 3,000 comments on the platform.
TikTok users flooded the comments section with praise for the firemen's efforts and useful reminders about pet and wildlife safety.
