1,000 disgruntled PPBM members to defect soon: GKCM president

PORT DICKSON: More than 1,000 members of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) are expected to leave the party to join Gabungan Kepimpinan Celik Minda (GKCM) soon.

This was revealed by GKCM president and former PPBM member, Kamarul Azman Habibur Rahman, or ‘Cikgu Kamarul’.

He said that since he left PPBM about a month ago, he has been receiving messages of support from disenchanted PPBM members expressing interest in joining GKCM.

“As (one of the founders) of PPBM, I see that the party has drifted away from its principles. PPBM leaders are not making much effort to help the people, but are instead using villagers gain support,” he said.

Cikgu Kamarul, who was also PPBM’s former Telok Kemang division head, said that PPBM’s accusations that Umno is a racist party have finally come back to bite it.

“Right from the beginning, I saw that the party had failed to elect a credible head of division. The party’s leaders, too, didn’t respect our views as among the seven party sponsors with the right to make decisions,” he said.

Cikgu Kamarul added that PPBM will not last long if cronyism continues to be practised.

“As a matter of fact, cronyism truly exists in the party. PPBM’s leaders and members should stop denying the matter. It’s about time PPBM leaders and members be gentlemen in politics.

“If you do not like the current government, change it in the upcoming general election, instead of attacking the government and the Prime Minister every day. Just carry on with your duties to help the rakyat and country,” he added.
