Ayeh Keroh rep suspended a day for disrupting state assembly session

MELAKA: The state legislative assembly today booted out and suspended Khoo Poay Tiong (DAP-Ayer Keroh) from the August House for disrupting a question and answer session.

The drama unfolded on the second sitting of the fifth meeting of the 13th session of the Melaka state legislative assembly, when Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron (BN-Sungai Udang) stood up to answer a question raised by Goh Leong San (Independent-Duyong).

The question raised was on Tanjung Minyak police report, which was related to the controversial land deal in Kelantan, allegedly linked to a DAP lawmaker here.

Khoo, who had his turn to ask a supplementary question to Idris, had repeatedly interrupted Idris' answer session which led to a shouting match between Khoo and other BN assemblymen; Datuk Zaidi Attan (Serkam), Datuk Md Rawi Mahmud (Tanjung Bidara), Datuk Sulaiman Md Ali (Lendu) and Datuk Ng Choon Koon (Bemban).

Following this, Datuk Md Yunos Husin (BN-Ayer Molek) proposed to the deputy speaker Datuk Seri Ab Wahab Ab Latip for Khoo to be ejected of the assembly, which was seconded by Datuk Seri Abdul Ghafaar Atan (BN-Asahan).

Khoo, instead of adhering to deputy speaker's order, refused to step out of the house and caused a scene for about five minutes.

Yunos then proposed for Khoo to be suspended from the hall, which was seconded by Datuk Ghazale Mohamad (Rim).

This was the second time Khoo was ejected from the August House this year, the first time was three months ago.

On March 8, Khoo was booted out of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly for similar reasons of disobeying Speaker Datuk Othman Muhamad's order to sit down.
