KUALA LUMPUR: MCA National Youth is organising a seminar geared towards teaching potential entrepreneurs to tap into full benefit the social messaging app WeChat.
The seminar titled, 'How Powerful Can WeChat Be,' will be held on July 22, and is put together by MCA’s Empowering Women's Rights Committee.
It is aimed to encourage youths who wished to venture into the online business to utilise the social chat application to generate income.
Committee chairman Nicole Wong said, there will be two guest speakers; one of which is Deputy Education Minister II Senator Datuk Choong Sin Woon.
His talk will be centred on how youths can leverage the app as well as find new customers.
The presentation will be in Mandarin and around 300 participants are expected to attend the free seminar.
"Today, as we see more and more young people especially Chinese women venturing into online business.
“However, many that have used this app had many problems," she said at a press conference held at Wisma MCA, today.
She said WeChat, which started off as a social chat application few years ago has evolved into offering many functions and services.
Besides marketing products like clothing, accessories, beauty care items, the app is also used to promote services such as weddings planning and photography, financial consultancy, tickets bookings and many more.
The seminar will be held at Wisma MCA from 10am to 2pm.
