KUALA LUMPUR: MCA will hold its annual general assembly from Oct 19-20.
Party secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon said the 49th Wanita MCA annual general assembly and the 60th MCA Youth annual general assembly will take place on Oct 19 at 9am and 1.30pm respectively.
"The MCA 71st AGM will be held the next day on Oct 20," he told a press conference at Wisma MCA today.
He said the number of delegates attending the events comprised 1,733 in the Wanita MCA meet; 1,033 for MCA Youth meet and 2,269 for the main assembly.
He added that Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is scheduled to officiate the annual general assembly.
"It has been a few years since we invited an officiant to our AGMs, mainly due to the movement control order. After the general election, we decided not to invite any one as the party's general assembly was focused on internal matters.
"This year, we are returning to tradition by inviting component parties and Friends of BN."
When asked if parties in the unity government were invited, Chong replied: "No, that has never happened before."
Meanwhile, Chong said this year's AGM will focus on the changing political landscape and preparations for the next general election.
"The delegates will discuss the direction and resolutions brought from state-level meetings."
He added MCA's central committee will finalise the resolutions to be presented during the AGM next Monday (Oct 14).
"Among the resolutions will be matters related to party issues, politics, the economy, government, culture and religion.
"Typically, there will be three to four resolutions in each category."
