Prove your worth DAP before demanding for seats in Johor: PKR Tebrau chief

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP must prove its worth if they want to ‘demand’ for seats in Johor, said PKR Tebrau chief Steven Choong.

Choong when contacted said this applies to all Pakatan Harapan (PH) component parties if they were to ‘request’ or ‘demand’ for seats.

“It is not about race but whether or not the respective parties who want seats have done work in those seats. For me, my team in Tebrau has done so much since the last general election.

“We have been working so hard, handled so many cases and helped so many people in this constituency. Where is DAP in Tebrau?” he questioned. Choong added that, even if they are elected representatives, it is not about just placing a person to win the seat; the elected representative must be able to create an impact on the constituency.

“We don’t want people to look at us as just wanted to win seats but not being able to do anything to help the people in that constituency,” he said.

Choong was responding to DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang who rubbished a report saying that DAP is eyeing on Chinese-majority seats with an intention to take over the State.

“All of us want to request for seats but none of us have mentioned which seats we want leaving it to be decided later behind closed door meetings.

“Why did Kit Siang have to mention those seats out in the open? My people have not done anything yet, although we are annoyed,” he said.

He also added that DAP’s presence in Tebrau in particular has not been significant for the party to request for the seat.

“Where is their machinery? They used to have four branches, now reduced to one. They have literally no activities in Tebrau. Where are your people in Tebrau?” he further questioned.

Lim had stressed that DAP was not interested in the three PKR seats in Johor – Johor Baru, Tebrau and Pasir Gudang.
