Fed up with opposition lies, more Chinese voters returning to MCA, BN

KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese voters are coming back to MCA and Barisan Nasional (BN) as they are fed up with the opposition, MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said.

He said the number of Chinese voters who would support MCA especially the grassroot continues to increase by the day.

Liow said MCA had made much inroads in understanding the feelings and needs of the people including the cost of living.

"We can see that now they are well aware of the dirty tactics used by the opposition especially DAP.

"Their dirty tactics include manipulating the people's emotion especially the Chinese community when election is near.

"DAP and its ally PKR would also instigate the people to hate the government so that they can gain the people's votes" he told reporters today.

He said the opposition would also stop at nothing in propagating lies and slanders, such as Malaysia being a failed state and going bankrupt.

Liow said the facts have proven otherwise as Malaysia's economy grew 6.2 per cent year-on-year in the third quarter, the strongest growth since the second quarter of 2014.

Liow, who is also Transport Minister, added that Malaysia is well-respected at the world stage.

"We have explained the best we can to the people so that they will not for fall for the same lies by the opposition.

"The opposition's ploy is to play up sensitive issues to divide the people," he said after launching a community kindergarten and library by MCA at Bandar Tun Razak.

He said Bandar Tun Razak MCA chairman Datuk Chew Yin Keen, who was instrumental in setting up the facilities, should stand as candidate in the coming general election as he had been working hard in the constituency.

In the last general election in 2013, MCA suffered its worst defeat ever, winning only seven of the 37 parliamentary seats and 11 of the 90 state seats it contested.

In the 2008 general election, it won 15 parliamentary and 31 state seats.

MCA's poor performance in the last two general elections, coupled with continued fractious infighting, had raised concerns over the party’s relevance in the Malaysian political arena.
