KJ as Umno vice president? Why not says Youth delegate

KUALA LUMPUR: An Umno youth delegate hinted for its chief, Khairy Jamaluddin, to one day be elected as a vice president.

Umno youth Pasir Gudang chief Azman Jaafar while debating Khairy's policy speech earlier reiterated the stand for the president and deputy president posts to not be contested in the next party election.

"The president and deputy president posts should not be contested. Which means there will be an extra spot among the vice-presidents.

"I think all of you can think on your own. I hope Khairy's struggle for the youth will be continued at a higher level," he said to thunderous applause and cheers from other delegates in support of his suggestion.

The current Umno vice-presidents are Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is also carrying the duties of deputy president following the departure of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The other spot was left vacant after former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal quit the party in July 2016 and had later formed a new political party, Parti Warisan Sabah.
