Left index finger, a crucial anatomy for GE14

PUTRAJAYA: The left index finger will be an important anatomy during the much-awaited 14th general election.

Should one have no left index finger, any fingers on the left hand will be dipped in the ink used to identify those who had cast their votes.

However, if a person does not have any of the left fingers, the right index finger will be used or any of the digits on the right hand.

This was shared by a representative from the Election Academy who declined to be named.

If the voter is missing both hands, the on-duty officer will then apply the ink on any part of the arms that can be seen.

An officer from the academy, who declined to be named, said

He added only one segment of the finger would be dipped into the ink as proof of attendance and the electorate's agreement to cast one vote.

"One bottle of the ink can be used on about 200 voters," he said when met at the Election Commission today.

At the same time, he said, electorate must be ready to comply to rules and regulations during the GE14.

"There are several frequent mistakes committed by voters such as failure to bring along their identification documents as well as some of them do not check their voting centres."

Some voters, he added, also put on shirts with party logos when they cast their vote, which was also wrong because it could be seen as "last-minute" campaigning for votes.

He said using mobile phones to make call, send messages or take picture of voters inside the voting centre was also a no-no.
