BAGAN DATUK: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi submitted his nomination papers to contest the Bagan Datuk parliamentary seat at the Dewan Gemilang of Sekolah Menengah Sains Bagan Datoh here.
Accompanying Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional deputy chairman, were the BN candidates for the two state seats in the Bagan Datuk constituency, namely Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (Rungkup) and Datuk Khairuddin Tarmizi (Hutan Melintang).
The three potential candidates arrived at about 8.30 am at the construction site of the Teedo Resort where about 5,000 supporters were waiting to accompany them in a procession to the nomination centre.
In a brief address to the supporters, Ahmad Zahid called on the constituents of Bagan Datuk to continue to support the BN to ensure continuity of development.
Ahmad Zahid is defending the Bagan Datuk parliamentary seat for the sixth term, having been the MP there since 1995. – Bernama
