Petaling Jaya: It will be a three corner fight in Petaling Jaya parliamentary seat between Barisan Nasional MCA’s Datuk Chew Hian Tat, PKR’s candidate and Bersih 2.0’s former chairman Maria Chin Abdullah under Pakatan Harapan and Pas candidate Noraini Hussin.
There are 3 state seats under Petaling Jaya which are Seri Setia, Taman Medan and Bukit Gasing.
However the only seat with a four-corner fight is Seri Setia which has an independent candidate contesting under the elephant symbol.
The other two state seats will only see a fight between Pas, PKR and BN.
Before the redelinetion process when it was known as Petaling Jaya Selatan there were 79,558 voters.
However now the parliamentary seat has been divided into three state assembly seats which are Seri Setia, Taman Medan and Bukit Gasing all renamed under Petaling Jaya.
In the 13th general elections, it was a three-cornered fight between PKR’s Hee Loy Sian, BN’s Sheah Kok Fah and independent candidate Ibrahim Khatib.
However, former Member of Parliament Hee who won with a huge majority last term will now contest at the Kajang parliamentary seat instead.
BN has lost for two consecutive terms in Petaling Jaya but is confident that it will regain support.
