Penang BN's campaign trail gets boost from Koh Tsu Koon [NSTTV]

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Barisan Nasional’s (BN) campaign trail for the Bukit Bendera Parliamentary constituency received a

major boost when it was joined by former chief minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon today.

Koh joined BN’s Tanjung Bungah candidate Teng Chang Yeow, Loo Jieh Sheng (Pulau Tikus) and Ooi Zi Yi (Kebun Bunga) during a walkabout at the Mount Erskine market here.

The entourage was warmly greeted by both traders and customers.

An unidentified woman took the group by surprise when she walked up to Koh and told him:

“Pakatan is not a viable alternative to BN.

“They can’t even file in their nomination papers correctly, let alone rule the country.

“My vote will definitely go to BN.”

Koh, who has been lying low since stepping down as chief minister, thanked the woman for her support.

Speaking to newsmen later, Koh said that the reception to the party this time is more favourable compared to the previous election campaign.

“I appeal to the people to give these young leaders a chance in the election.

“They can serve as a check and balance, as there are many issues affecting the people, especially in Tanjung Bungah.

“These leaders (if voted in) can be the voices of the people,” he added.

The veteran leader also said that he would join BN, particularly Gerakan’s campaign trail, in Teluk Intan and Kuala Lumpur as well.

“They have been supporting me all this while, and it is my duty now to reciprocate,” Koh added.
