KLANG: A Kota Raja PKR member has left the party for MIC today, claiming his former party has no plan to help the Indian community in the area.
Muhammad Jaya Abdullah, 47, said previously he had given his full support to Sungai Kandis assemblyman and PKR vice-president Dr Xavier Jayakumar during the last two elections.
“I was also Kota Raja's Angkatan Muda Keadilan division deputy chairman for three years (from 2008 to 2010).
“Throughout my time in PKR, I realise that they have no plans for the Indian community in the area, despite being in power for two terms.
“MIC, on the other hand, was always readily available to help the people,” he said when met in Sentosa.
Jaya said it was MIC’s readiness to serve the community that convinced him to join the party.
“Many people have been advising me against joining Barisan Nasional but I wanted to serve the people.
"I have known Datuk R. Subramaniam (BN Sentosa candidate) for a long time and I know that he and his friends have helped a lot of people.
“I hope he will win this time.” he added.
Meanwhile, Subramaniam said Jaya had played a significant role in Xavier’s success in the last GE and hoped he would do the same to him.
