Arul Kanda invites businessman Lee Kim Yew to 1MDB townhall session

KUALA LUMPUR: 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy has invited business tycoon Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew to attend a townhall session tomorrow at 8.15pm at KRT Cottage in Taman Lucky, Bangsar.

He said he would be open-minded on the principle of “daring to be true” by explaining any doubts over the issue involving 1MDB.

“I am inferior (to Lee) and open heartedly welcome his presence in the 1MDB Information Session and Answer Session (Monday),” he said when contacted.

Lee, in an interview with a local news portal, likened the 1MDB issue to a “disease that should have been addressed by the government” much earlier.

The Country Heights Holdings Bhd founder had also called on whichever party formed the government after the 14th general election to resolve 1MDB's failure so that the country could rise again.

Lee had also claimed that the 1MDB issue was an epidemic affecting Malaysians and neighbouring countries especially Singapore.

Arul Kanda had previously criticised the attitude of opposition leaders who strongly hit out at the country's strategic investment company but failed to attend sessions and townhalls on the issue, even those organised in their strongholds.
