PEKAN: Datuk Seri Najib Razak is pleased with two projects being carried out by Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) in Kuala Pahang.

In an hour-long trip, the prime minister managed to visit the house of octogenarian Wan Lijah Wan Ahmad, which was repaired by UMP.

Najib, who arrived about 11am, was greeted by the 80-year-old herself, and her daghter Fatimah Abdullah, 47.

UMP had borne the entire RM37,000 cost to repair Wan Lijah’s home and equip it with various comforts such as solar energy panels for electricity, a full bathroom and a water pump, besides painting the entire house.

The project was undertaken under UMP’s Facelift D’Kuala Pahang programme.

Najib spent time chatting with Wan Lijah about her life and health, besides her home after the upgrade she received from UMP.

Accompanying Najib was Barisan Nasional candidate for the Peramu Jaya state seat, Datuk Seri Sh Puzi Sh Ali.

The BN chairman then went to the second project, called the Kuala Pahang (KP) House.

KP House is a one-stop activity and interaction centre which is aimed at being a centre for knowledge and education for the local community, specifically the younger generations.

There, Najib was briefed on both projects by UMP vice-chancellor Datuk SeriDr Daing Nasir Ibrahim.

After the briefing, Najib spent some time meeting and chatting with some 30 students of SK Indera Shahbandar.
