Pas does a clean sweep in Kubang Kerian

KOTA BARU: Pas deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man won the Kubang Kerian parliamentary seat with a 19,369-vote majority, with the party’s candidates making a clean sweep of the two state seats under it as well.

Tuan Ibrahim, who contested the seat for the first time, polled 35,620 votes to Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Seri Muhammad Abdul Ghani’s 16,251, with PKR candidate Datuk Dr Abdul Halim Yusof receiving 11,557 votes.

Pas first-timer Saiful Adli Abu Bakar took the Salor state seat with a 4,666-vote majority. He received 11,206 votes, beating BN’s Datuk Mohamad Noordin Awang (6,540) and PKR candidate Husam Musa (3,617).

Meanwhile, Mumtaz Md Nawi retained the Demit state seat with a majority of 9,068 votes, polling 13,621 votes to BN candidate Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi’s 4,553 and Dr Wan Ahmad Kamil Wan Abdullah of PKR’s 3,601 votes.
