Bagan Serai MP to join PH?

BAGAN SERAI: Rumours are rife that the Barisan Nasional (BN) member of parliament for Bagan Serai, Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, will jump ship to Pakatan Harapan (PH).

The word is that the two-term MP had expressed his intention to support the PH-led Federal Government.

A short messaging service (SMS) was also forwarded by certain quarters saying that Dr Azmi’s special officer, who is his brother, Noor Azman, would leave Umno.

When contacted, Dr Noor Azmi expressed shocked over the speculation, but refused to comment further on the matter.

He only confirmed his meeting with former Deputy Prime Minister and BN Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, along with other BN MPs in Kuala Lumpur, tonight.

“Jump ship? Join Harapan (PH)? No comment.

“I must focus on the meeting with Zahid tonight,” he said.

Meanwhile, Noor Azman when contacted also refused to elaborate on the rumours.

“Wait for the meeting (with Zahid) tonight. I willl give update on it,”he said.

Dr Noor Azmi retained the Bagan Serai parliamentary seat in the 14th General Election (GE14) with a majority of 172 votes in a three-corner fight.

PH won 113 out of the 222 parliamentary seats, defeating BN that won 79 seats and Pas (18 seats).

Parti Warisan Sabah won eight seats, independent candidates won three parliamentary seats, while Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Solidariti) won one seat.
