KOTA KINABALU: Tan Sri Musa Aman chaired the first Sabah cabinet meeting today after he was sworn in as Chief Minister on Thursday.
It is learnt that the meeting at the Sabah State Administrative Centre here started in the morning and ended at 2.30pm.
Among those seen exiting from the meeting were Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and Datuk Hajiji Noor as well as Sports and Youth Minister Datuk Masiung Banah.
Musa, however, left the building immediately and only waved at the pressmen, who were waiting at the lobby.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey when met by the media, said the meeting was held to discuss efforts to strengthen the administration through the restructuring of several ministries.
When asked whether the meeting had touched on resignation of Chief Minister and the swearing in of Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as the new chief minister, Jeffry said it was not discussed.
He stressed all quarters needed to protect and respect the state constitution, democracy, and the mandate given by the people.
“If buying people is allowed this will destroy the people’s mandate. We cannot play around with the people’s trust.
“We cannot allow what happened in 1985 and 1994 to repeat. It was not democracy,” he said referring to crises that followed two change of governments after the elections.
On the 35 seats secured by Warisan-PH, Jeffry said it only occurred a day after Musa was sworn in as Chief Minister on Thursday.
“During the swearing in, Shafie did not have the majority we had...We must stop this joke for the stability of the state, respect for the people’s mandate, democracy, and fairness.
“We must move forward...we can work together,” he said.
