Musa thanks Agong for appointment as Sabah's 11th governor

KOTA KINABALU: Tun Musa Aman has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, for appointing him as Sabah's 11th governor.

In a statement, he conveyed his deep honour in continuing to serve the state and its people through this appointment.

Musa expressed immense pride in accepting the role and thanked the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim for granting his consent, with the appointment set to take effect in January.

"This is a great honour, as His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has entrusted me with this important responsibility," he said.

Musa also extended his appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for their confidence in nominating him for the position.

"I am truly grateful to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for their trust and support in recommending me as the Head of State," he said.

Musa, 73, was appointed the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah according to Article 1 of the Sabah Constitution for four years, effective Jan 1, 2025 until Dec 31, 2028.

He succeeds Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, whose term ends on Dec 31 after serving since Jan 1, 2011.

Musa received his letter of appointment from Sultan Ibrahim in a ceremony held at the Singgahsana Kecil, Istana Negara, Kuala Lumpur, this morning.
