GEORGE TOWN: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Penang government is set to have a meeting to begin discussions on three major projects to be implemented in the state.
The three major projects are the Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP), Flood Mitigation Project and Affordable Housing Project.
Newly-minted Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow gave particular attention to the implementation of PTMP.
In a response to the queries by the press for the project, he said that the state government will follow up on the documents submitted for the light rail transit (LRT) project under the PTMP to the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) in March 2016, stating that there has not been any progress until today.
“As for the Pan Island Link, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) has yet to be completed, we will follow up with the project delivery partner on its status.
“For the Penang South Reclamation (PSR), we hope to push for it to get it tabled at the cabinet.
“In this first 100 days we might not get the approval but we will push further in our effort to get the approval for the projects,” he said in his first press conference as chief minister at his office here today.
Earlier, Chow was sworn in as the fifth chief minister, succeeding Finance Minister-elect Lim Guan Eng.
