MIC, MCA staying with BN – Liow, Subramaniam

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC and MCA will stay in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition to help bring about changes which would allow the association to tackle future political challenges.

MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam said BN needs to be a good opposition pact to regain the support of the people – but added that the party may consider other options if the changes fail to materialise.

“Today, (MIC) is still part of BN. We feel BN needs to reform to (face) current challenges, and we will see if that reform happens. Otherwise, we will be looking for (other) options,” he said after attending a meeting of the BN Supreme Council at Menara Dato’ Onn last night.

Meanwhile, MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said all component parties will carry out a post-mortem to identify and correct their weaknesses.

“BN is still intact. Those who are in BN (have) to go through these changes together," he added. – Bernama
