KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Rural Development Ministry staff are reminded to leave their political ideology out and focus on providing excellent service to the people.
Newly appointed minister Ewon Benedick said all staff needed to work as a strong team to ensure all plans and assistance for the people reached the grassroots.
“It’s time for all quarters to play their respective role in order to make sure the ministry’s function reaches the rural folks.
“We must now forget our political ideology because what is important at the moment is to give excellent service to the rakyat,” said the 35-year-old minister during his first meeting with the Ministry’s staff here today.
Also present were assistant minister Rasinin Binkoutis and ministry’s permanent secretary Abu Bakar Abd Talip.
Ewon, who is also Kadamaian assemblyman, said he would continue to implement present programmes and policies which were good and in line with the ministry’s function to alleviate rural folks.
Ewon, who is the youngest minister in the state cabinet, said he would cancel existing programmes that were no longer relevant and outdated.
“There are many good programmes for the people such as Program Ekonomi Desa and Programme Keusahawanan Desa, which need to be continued with some improvements.
“Apart from that, the Village Community Development and Welfare (JKKK) will be institutionalised to become Desa Cabinet to ensure smoother and effective management.
“We want JKKK to be more systematic and able to assist in gathering clear information and the necessities required by a village to be highlighted to the government,” he said.
