KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno supreme council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi said former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim would be the best candidate for the opposition to field in the Seri Setia seat.
He said Khalid should be nominated to stand in the by-election as he would be able to use the issue of Selangor government allegedly paying RM2.55 billion to take over Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor (Splash) as part of the restructuring of the state's water assets, during the campaign.
“Khalid will be able to explain to the people what is going on and it can be his launching pad to attack the double standard practiced by Pakatan Harapan,” he said.
“Before this former Selangor Menteri Besar (Datuk Sri Mohamed Azmin Ali) has not been forthcoming on the who issue.
“The Seri Setia by-election would be the best place to highlight this issue for the people to judge for themselves on what is going on,” he said in a statement.
