Dr Wan Azizah: I can smell air of freedom

PORT DICKSON: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is satisfied with the media coverage of the Port Dickson parliamentary by-election.

“I can smell the air of freedom. I am sure members of the media are more flexible in their reports this time around,” she said after visiting the media centre, here, today.

“The freedom of the press given by the Pakatan Harapan-led government has been positively translated in every report published and broadcast by all media organisations. I am satisfied with the outcome.”

She urged journalists to always be ethical and responsible in their reporting.

“Don’t spin and speculate. Reports must be balanced,” she said.

Dr Wan Azizah who is on leave to campaign for her husband, Pakatan Harapan’s candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said it had been smooth sailing for the party despite a stiff fight among the seven candidates.

“Besides Anwar, we have a former Negri Sembilan menteri besar, popular social media personality and other strong candidates in the by-election. It won’t be easy, but I hope the people of Port Dickson will give Anwar a chance to contribute not only for the locals but also for the country,” she said.
