KUALA LUMPUR: A restaurant with two branches in the city has received six fines after a worker was recently caught on video spitting while packaging a customer's food.
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) conducted inspections at both establishments to assess food safety and cleanliness.
"As a result of the inspections, the restaurant in Publika received two fines for violations of the Food Handlers (Federal Territory) By-Law 1979, including failure to wear proper head coverings and aprons.
Several workers were also found without the required typhoid vaccinations, as mandated by the Licensing of Food Establishments (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) By-Law 2016.
"The other Publika branch faced four fines for similar infractions, including head covering and apron violations, absence of a grease trap in the kitchen sink, a dirty and greasy kitchen floor, and flour stored directly on the floor," DBKL said in a Facebook post today.
DBKL reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and cleanliness of food premises in the city for the well-being of consumers.
"Inspection operations are conducted regularly, and DBKL actively monitors public complaints regarding cleanliness issues. We encourage everyone to report any hygiene concerns at food premises to DBKL," read the post.
