Plot to topple PM - Khairuddin

KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan's Communications and Mobility Committee Member, Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan claimed that there is a plot being hatched to topple Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad from his post.

Khairuddin said the plan is devised by disgruntled quarters who were frustrated as they did not secure any position in Pakatan Harapan (PH).

"I can sniff their devious plot and they are scheming to oust Dr Mahathir from his post as prime minister for failing to clinch any party position.

"However, I don't intend to be arrogant but the plotteres are too insignificant and they should just be brushed aside," Khairuddin said in a statement here today.

It is believed that Khairuddin was commenting on PKR Kedah state leadership council chairman Datuk Johari Abdul who accused Dr Mahathir as being clueless to the country's development after the 14th general election and spending most of his time travelling overseas.

Johari said on Friday the New Malaysia has no clear direction and gameplan causing the people to be frustrated and disappointed with PH's current leadership.

Khairuddin said Dr Mahathir on the contrary is working very hard to develop the country wrecked by kleptocracy by the previous government and needs all the support he can muster.

"This (developing the country) is not the prime minister's job alone. It is the collective responsibility of everybody in PH and nobody can solely blame Dr Mahathir.

"And please don't be disrespectful towards our prime minister. He goes on overseas trips not to go sightseeing but to gain investors confidence to invest in our country."
